Opinion

Argument from the desk, labeled as such. Facts still cited.

Opinion is where Circuit & Capital argues a position rather than reports a development. Every piece in this section is labeled Opinion at the top. The standards do not change: facts are still linked to their source, and a reader should be able to tell which sentences are reported and which are our judgment. Our editorial standards set out how we keep the two apart.

The briefings elsewhere on the site also carry analysis, in sections such as “What it means for CFOs” and “What to do this week.” Those sections are our view, built on the sourced facts above them. This page collects the pieces that are argument from the first line.

To argue back, use the contact form. Substantive disagreements with a source attached are the most useful mail we get.

Who it is for. Directors, executives and investors who want a clear argument they can test, not a summary of the news. Opinion pieces are short on purpose: they take one position, show the evidence behind it, and end with the questions or actions that follow if the argument is right. If you disagree, the sourced facts let you check where the argument rests.

Arguments in this section, and what each one asks of you

Opinion pieces are added when the desk has an argument worth making and the sources to support it, not on a schedule. The briefings in Technology, Policy and Markets carry our analysis too, in labeled sections at the end of each piece.
